hey, im new to the honda world and i just picked up a 91 LS teg for real cheap. i'm wondering how hard it would be to make it fast enough to beat a new 4 door civic SI. I've done my share of wrenching, just never in the honda world. So im wondering what the cheapest way would be to get me where it would be good competition for a new SI, im not looking into putting a lot of money into it since i already have a car that would eat the SI. I dont want to use nitrous, obviously a little weight reduction could be done, but i would like some opinions on what you guys would do to the motor besides the obvious boltons (i/h/e). I know theres a lot of options in the honda world, so thats why im looking for opinions... thanks.

put on a turbo...you can put pick your parts for a custom turbo kit...for less than 1500....that'll get enough juice to beat just bout any Si...but if you want N/A, that'll take some work to beat a DOHC Vtec..just talking from experience...just intake, cat-back, headers will not do it...

for my integra...4 dr 94...with skunk2 im, injien intake...stage 3 clutch, 7 lb fidanza flywheel, alphawerks catback, magnaflow cataly..bosch plt 4+ plugs, pacesetter headers...all this mods put me up about 1500...but you i guess you can find cheaper used parts...i ran side by side with a gs-r with header and intake...beat stock Si..which is nothing special because alot of kids have more than just those typical mods...

either take your b18a and put in some b16 pistons and have the bottom end rebuilt or grab a b20z then add in crower 404's and a good supporting IHE

should get you in the 165hp level so that with enough weight reduction should get you where you want to be.
