im troubleshooting my friends car its a cx 95 with a supposed d15b7 in it. and it supposedly has the stock ecu in it. does any one know what the stock motor is for that car anddo i need to look at the ecu and/or change the ecu? the car smokes a little bit when u rev it up, and someone called it in to dmv. they suspended his registration. now he has to have it inspected before they will reinstate it. he said someone told him he had the wrong ecu. any help would be appreciated

usdm cx civic had a d15b8 rated at 70bhp (thats what i got off wikipedia)

what color smoke? could be head gasket or oil related

the ecu shouldent make it smoke at lest not so bad he would get reported maybe trouble under the hood blue smoke meens he's burning oil white smoke meens water or antifreezs as for the ecu

d15b8=P05 ecu
d15b7=P06 ecu

any way it should have the d15b8 witch is basicly the same as the d15b7 but the b8 has 8 valves and the b7 has 16 valves
