I have a 99 civic hx that im wanting to put a itr swap in. I have all the mounts and stuff like that but im not sure on the wiring. I had read that the 99 and 00 civics hxs only were obd2a instead of obd2b is that true. does the hx motor have a knock sensor. what should i change and keep to do this swap thanks

Knock sensor-no idea, sorry.

IIRC-It should be obd2a.

I've used Rywire ECU jumper harnesses and RYWIRE dizzy jumper harnesses with great success, and IMHO the money was well worth the time/effort saved trying to repin everything.

Worst case scenario,

http://www.rywire.com/catalog/test-p-1.html

I know its not cheap,BUT it could save alot of trouble/headaches, and is probable better than messing with 12 year old wires. (A full ITR swap ain't cheap anyway!)

Good luck.

I was looking at the car and i didn't see a knock sensor. What I did find out was that there is 2 5 wire o2 sensors. Can i use those or do i have to use the 4 wires. Do you think I would be better off getting a 96-98 ex harness and using it. Thanks

I have a 98 Hx with a Ls Vtec swap same as a Type R. You have an immobilizer in the ECU but a OBD1 conversion will take care of that. Get a OBD2B to OBD1 jumper, Hondata, 99-00 Si harness or a 99-00 EX harness and modify it. I am using a 98 DX harness and added Vtec to it. In most cases you would use the stock harness in the car but the HX has a 5 wire bank 1 O2 sensor. That makes rewiring very tricky as the 5 wire is a wide band and is tied into many other sensors on the engine. It was just quicker and easier to get get another harness and slightly modify it for my poor man Type R. I have no knock sensor and am running Hondata S100. My LS Vtec make 161whp which is about 190 at the crank so just shy of a healthy Type R and it is very fun to drive...dam quick car.
