Hey guys im planning on making my engine rev 9k+
i got a skunk2 manifold and stage 2 cams ready to go, in so im pretty sure i can make the power to it
Ive bought a girdle, windage tray and oilpickup from a vtec engine, baffled oil pan on its way.
titanium reatiners and dual springs. porting the head and bigger valves

now is there anyhing im missing?
ill be using a b16a short ratio gearbox from a crx.

A built bottom end and some extensive port work cause the head flows like crap!

Plus 1 on ARP rod bolts. I am building my B18B1 LS Vtec to rev to 8k and I have ARP rod bolts ready to go. Balancing the bottom end is a good idea also.

yes the rod bolts are the weak point in the LS block if u are going to rev to 9000 rpm ARP rod bolts are a must period but even at that rpm range i dout that you are going to see any more HP at that RPM range then like at 8000 no matter what you do to your engine it will peak at like maybe 8000/maybe 8500 then flaten out and that is being generouse so what is the point but that is just my 2 cents

are you doing upgraded valvetrain too? at those revs, valve float is a good possiblity on an LS as well

oops my bad...well if you do the setup ure talkin about here, i dont see a reason u couldnt rev to 8 and maybe beyond..it all comes down to the tune and if u'll make power that far up in the powerband otherwise it'd be pointless as u prly know..but nonetheless, good luck with the build and keep us updated :super

Sounds like you are good to rev to 9k. However I dont think you will make power to 9k the Ls heads flow like crap even after P&P it only flows as good as a stock Vtec head and if you are using stock PR4 pistons you wont get the most out of the stage 2 cams. P72, PR3. P73 or P30 depending on how crazy you want to get will get the most out of the cams.

i dont see the sense reving that high and the engine dont make much power up there...

its better to bump the compression ratio and aim for some torque throughout the powerband :?

i dont think they make much power past 8k...i had a ls with 9.5:1 pistons with crower stage 1 cams and it made power till like 7700

You would probably have to use crower 404s to make power to 9k.
