descent night at the track tonight. best time was 15.7. lots of you probably thinkn how slow. but bristols track is way off compared to others.some say a second and a half. some say 2 seconds. they say its cause of elevation. anyhow. i have all motor ls. with b16 tranny. xs power intake manifold. i raced a turboed ep hatch tonight. he ran 15.7. hmmmmm. i raced 2 crx's with gsr's and 1 with b16 xsi. now right at the line all these cars were about to pass me. im crossing the line consistently at 85 mph. one gsr i went against ran 15.9 the b16 went 16.1 and they were both at almost 90mph. so i know that im killing them with torque and allows me to jump off the line. but my top end is weak. weak. weak. im proud though that i have a ls that runs as good as it does. specially against the k20 on boost. if i decide to keep what i have. i want to know what you guys would honestly do to improve this top end. i just want to get to were these guys arent coming back on me at the end.

just regular crappy street tires. factory from toyota passeo. i launch around 3000. to 3500 depending how they prepped the track. on what they call a good prep i can launch @ 2000 and spin all the way through second. have a reaction time of .647. just a terrible run all together. on what they call a terrible prep i can get reaction time down to .170 launching around 3000. catch traction right around the right time and run good. i guess a good prep for them 11 second mustangs is bad for us honda boys.

lol. is that wow in a good or bad way? what are your times? as you can see the guy with the xsi engine had faster mph at the end of the 1/4. i jumped on him big off the line. then he caught back up to me. he is also running a 92 ls tranny. thats why i was wanting to know if i should switch back to my ls or just do some top end work. i know my b16 tranny is not turning enough rpm with my motor. but of course if i rev my motor any higher its pointless.

if you can bring that 60' down, you should get a better time. Try lowering your tire pressure or get bf drag radial and launch at 4000-4500, just let her rip. I don't feather or bounce off rev limiter i just keep the rpm at a constant rev.

yeah i hold it steady at the tree. just our track is garbage man, you cant take off this week the same as last week. for example when i went in march. they had the track so wet i could dump at 2000 and spin from 2000 to rev limit and bounce off till time to hit 2nd. hit second and still bounce of of it. so when i went back the week after that. didnt know how the track was prepped. so my first run i dumped at 2000. just caught early traction. barely chirped my tires. i had to wait on power band and everything. and ran like a 16.0 that run. so all that night i pretty much had to launch higher around 3000 3500..so i guess thats all im going to get at this track. on other time slips i do have better 60's and better r/t's. that 15.7 was my best time so i posted the time from that one

Read the sig. No, I'm not implying anything at all. Drag racing is not my forte.

damn i was about to feel good if you was saying i could get quicker. aww man...lol. im not much on the dragging either. first time at the track in 3 years. thought i go this year see what i could do. i prolly wont go back. it just aint no fun when they line you up with a 10 second chevy. another part of my problem could be the fact i have bad camber. the outter portion of my tire is really off the ground.

I know of a particular car that was a steady 11.9 car, went and got a good quality alignment went back to the track and ran 11.4's consistently.

ive been thinking hard of putting stock suspension on for the moment. dead serious when i say i cant get my fingers between my headers and the ground. thus the camber problem. one good hit. bust the headers and oil pan. car drives real good for as low as it is. but the thing is im cranked all the way up. guess that LS ways that much more. i have a set of onsoku coils. just no struts for them.

Weighs more than what a D series? I'm sure they do, but not enough to slam the car that much. Ride height didnt change at all when my friend swapped from his D to a B16 in a 89 STD... You may just have weak springs or something...

Either wya, slammed cars look good but just arent functional.

Also, check into getting a quality alignment...

i didnt adjust ride height at all during the swap. i guess its just the oil pan sitting lower from the size of the b motor. as far as springs and struts. they are brand new. near 5 months on them. i also went to a different size rim. so i say im probably sitting around the same. just driving extremly careful for the oil pan. and tranny.
