Hey guys, this has probably been covered, but it's probably a good thread to have layin around.

In choosing a header for a nonvtec b-series, are there any headers in particular to look for other than any good header?

Perhaps a couple good ones geared for a powerband <8k?

Or is it more or less like choosing any bseries header?

Thanks

Peter

I don't know what everyone else's opinion on the site is.. but I jus like the 4-2-1 one piece headers. Just make sure they don't send you GSR headers. They don't bolt up correctly and it's missing an O2 Sensor insert.

I think its a hard question to say "whats the best" because sometimes a product like a header, with different tube designs and pipe sizing can offer different types of power increase (IE higher end while lower end tq suffers)

I personally have also seen that it depends on who you ask/what forum..like the DC sports header, one some honda forums everybody says its pure shit, whilst others swear by it

it really depends on your setup and what you want out of it.
4-1 is for top end and 4-2-1 is for mid range power.

if you want a header just because or for a bit more power, then the best bang for your buck is an ebay header.

they are actually pretty good quality and do give a hp increase. not much, but shit, what do you expect for something thats worth 50bux?

a DC header does give more power than an ebay one, but if you compare dollar:hp, then it is completely not worth it.

if you want to go all out, then get a RMF, SMPS or hytech...etc.

That says it all. They will basically all be the same in power unless you go super cheap. The only difference in brand names is exactly that, the NAME. It is also about how long you want it to last. Some headers' that are made cheap will crack and look like crap after so long, but the bigger brand names will not do that. It's all personal preference and budget.

Just go with something as simple as a JDM ITR 4-1 header. Prolly your best bang for the buck header out there.

not all the headers sre the same some are made with just the same size pipe till it gets to the collextor. and others use a smaller pipe for about a couple inches the raise to a bigger diameter depending on the engine and specs, horsepower out out and torque that is desirable. really the way to go is all how fast you want to go. yea 1k for a header is kinda ridiculous but if you are going to go fast you need the right parts as well.

go all out and get a hytech, anr, kteller and etc header

just try it and see if it bolts up. if you look at it you should get a good idea if it will or not. i dont know if it fits or not.

there really is no "best header" for a couple bolt ons such as intake and cat back. now if you have a mild engine build then you have to look at what kind of flow you need as well as the size piping that you should have.

All B series headers are compatible with B series heads. The only thing that wouldn't fit would be the distance from the collector to the cat/piping.

As far as choices, RMF SMSP is what the H-T crowd is going to recommend. The only reason I can justify shelling out 7-800 for a header is if I had NOTHING left to do. For a conservative all motor build, any ITR or DC with a 2.5 inch collector is going to be sufficient.

If you want the gangsterness of a high dollar header, JG engine dynamics makes one and it's only like 350.

i agree with the above recommendations.

however an additional consideration since he has a 91 is front crossmember clearance. i cant tell you for sure that it will fit or not. the only DA i worked on i rebuilt a whole new crossmember.

I know very little about DA's. Only thing I can tell you is that it will fit your head.

theres a header on http://www.honda-tech.com thats a hytech production copy for 300 shipped. It has the long tube design and has 2.5 collector. Says it fits all all Bseries motors and pretty much is awesome for the money spent.

the best header on the strike mark right now has got 2 be a 4-2-1 tri Y header that we sell on our web site, strongest header around, made 7hp over the mighty ITR header, dyno proven on high compression Bseries engines, we stand behind em all the way!!
