I am getting a tdc sensor code, but the funny thing it only comes on when my car is having starting problems. The thing is the starting problems is stemming from the starter not working. After a while the check engine light comes on, so I decided to check it and turned out to be the tdc sensor. The thing is even though it is intermittent can this still cause my engine not being able to rev out all the way?

if your r getting that code i would check your cam gears and make your sure your car didnt jump any teeth. i myself have had this happen just two weeks ago my car didnt want to start so i started to crank and i got a code 17 (obd2) tdc so i checked my gears and the where way out so now i have to tear the motor out and then down, but if i was you i would double check your cam gears and see if they are even or in time.

If the gears are in time then this could be an indicator that your distributor could be going out or bad this also happen to me couple of months back. good way to check is try some one else if you can, if another one does nothing and you have the same problem it may be out of time. i hope its not out to much because you could hurt your motor if it is. that could be the reason for your motor not letting you go to red line to protect itself.

check this things out and get back to us so we can help you out
