im running b16 on ls with slight mods. i know i have great bottem end. but is this tranny hurting my topend. should i keep this tranny or go back to the ls.

Throw in the LS 5th gear, or get a GSR tranny..... :idea:

i know how u feel man...i have a type r lsd trans with a 4.4 final...it sucks highway cruising but on the strip or at the autocross/roadtrack its worth it...i might be throwin in an LS 5th gear just for the highway

lol. what i meant was my top end for performance. i dont care about how high it revs on the highway. not to much of a traveler. just by the time i get at the end of the 1/4 mile. i feel so slow like there is no power. im running 15's which is good for our track 15.7. stock ls's hit mid 16's to low 17's cause our track is garbage. but by the time i cross the line my car feels like its strugglin to go. im in 4th gear and i cross the line at 85 mph. what im trying to figure out is. is the ls tranny actually letting my motor pull harder at top end. or do i need to do more top end work?

um i would say more top end work...cuz like i had my stock ls on my type r tranny and the best i ran was a 15.8...but once i rebuilt it with stage one cams and was revvin to 8K it felt a lot better...i have a b20 in my car right now with the same trans and i know what ur feelin cuz i feel it too

yea the other thing is to up your comp. in the bottom end...like the thing with these b16/type r trannies is that there supposed to be revvin up to 9K or so...there not really designed for a motor that only revs to 7K

yeah i think im going to build on the top end some more. im looking for 160 to 170 hp. thats about it. enough to keep them vtecs behind me. hope that will do it.

Sup guys.... saw ya mention about a LS 5th gear into the b16 tranny. I posted a "LS 5th gear into a hydro b16 tranny" at the tech section. I would really appreciate if ya can get me some advice on it. Thanksl
