Hello,
I have done my fair share of research on this and also have done an engine/tranny swap in my previous civc.
Where I am at now is I have a 92 DX hatch with a 92 B18A engine with cable tranny. I plan on getting the HASport conversion mounts for the tranny, but what I would really like is a step by step on how to do this engine/tranny swap into my car. I plan on doing it with a few buddies in the spring time, I know basically what I am doing - but if anyone could direct me to a "detailed" write up on doing this that would be great.

Thanks

If I were you, I'd save myself the trouble and money, sale the transmission and buy a hydro b series transmission.

Otherwise, the swap is the same. You'll bolt the Hasport parts to the transmission and then drop it in...

so all i have to do is bolt on the hasport parts? then why do you say i avoid all the trouble, it sounds like there isnt much to do...and i think a hydro b series tranny would set me back more than the parts needed to do the swap...
any other thoughts

thanks

If I were you I'd keep the Cable because Hydro Tranny's can get expensive and Cable ones are fairly cheap. I had a cable B17 on a built B20 and loved it. I paid 250 bucks for the B17 as opposed to the 650 bucks that the B16 Hydro priced.

My only thing is cables are becoming harder and harder to find in good shape. what year is the engine/tranny that you're swapping in?

A desirable cable trans, like a b16 y1 or j1 will set you back quite a bit. If you ever decide to run with a better geared transmission.

Are you buying the Hasport kit or just the mount? I read in Honda Tuning a couple months ago when they used the kit they had to make a lot of adjustments to the kit in order for it to work the way its intended to.

I just like to keep things simple for me, thus I wouldnt use the cable transmission in a hydro car. But thats just me.

I'm using the hasport kit and it was a direct bolt on. As for the clutch I think the 90-91 cable trannys use a different clutch disk. 92-01 are the same.

my car is a 92 hatch, and the engine is a 92 b18a with only 100k on it and the tranny is mint, plus i got both for $200. Thats the only reason i am doing it,,,so just buy the hasport mounts, a cable clutch for a 92 integra (cause the clutch is gone on it) and i should be ok?

thanks

There's no way for the clutch cable to work in the car as its not setup for a clutch cable.

I would also buy the hasport hydro-to-cable conversion kit. It'll come with the mount as well as all the other stuff you'd need.

This is perfect for you.

You retain the hydro clutch plumbing and what not, but you're able to use the cable transmission.

Make sense?

I have a friend that converted his 97 integra to use a cable rather that a slave cylinder. He thought it'd be cheaper and faster than buying the conversion and waiting on it. After 3 weeks of down time he discovered it would have been better to get the conversion. Later that week we learned why people don't do it...EVER. The clutch cable broke 4 times.

i meant i need to buy a new clutch for it, not the cable. but the clutch i should buy would obviously be for a 92 integra right?
so after i buy the hasport kit, thats it huh? and i still retain all the hydro plumbing stuff?

thanks again

Plus for us stock cable trans guys if you have a pretty tough clutch you will bust pedal assemblies as well.

You will retain everything from the Hydro setup on the car itself. the only thing that will actually be different will be the clutch arm.
