Okay, new thread- still working on my EG/ls swap. But I am ordering parts in a few days, and I would like some input on what people think. Okay so, 90 b18a1 block (resurfaced, milled down .50 mm) 93 b18a1 head with new cams. New crank pr3 rods& pistons (new rings). I was wondering how much boost i should put mildly on these internals. looking a t-25, t04e, t3/t4

Thanks Matt

the pr3 pistons to me may create a compression problem for boost. maybe not with stock block. but you are raising compression with those

the pr3's are on pr3 rods though. the domes on the pistons only reach 1.5 mm above the deck height. the rest of the piston is well below it. the way i figured it, should be 9.54:1 compression

you can boost it on that compression..But you can not boost too high. If you are planning on boost then get it tune correctly. I would have at least drop the compression down to be on the safe side.

stock/oem internal with missing link, fmu or at least 440cc or higher injectors, and stock ecu
High compression: 5-7 psi
low compression 5-10 psi

stock/oem internal , 3 bar map, fmu or at least 440cc or higher injectors, chipped ecu

High compression: 5-9 psi
low compression 5-15 psi

this is only from my experiences but other may have boosted more psi

not knocking your idea. just seemed to be better boosting the stock rods and pistons(pr4) for the lbs you are able to run. just seems to me to be a safer route.

I don't really see the benefit in swapping the b16 rods/pistons into the LS... the point of using B16 pistons is to raise compression.

Do you think you'd be able to rev higher if you did this or something?

My pr4's were fried (2 bent rods -blew hole through piston)
I got a good deal on pr3's and since i have been planning on turbo-ing the motor from the start.
I figured that 9.54:1 compression was good

Now I'm having a hard time believing the block was even salvageable. At any rate... I would not boost @ any PSI with stock cast pistons and stock rods...

Thats just me though, I prefer to do things right the first time...

Cast piston can hold boost, but to a certain point.
I've even seen 9.1:1 forged pistons melt before.

hahaha. it really wasn't i bought 1 full ls motor, 3 intake manis, 2 exhaust manis, extra ls block, 2 pr4 heads, a jdm y80 lsd tranny and various other parts for $420. I figured i would use the internals from the full block.... but to my surprise when i opened it :(
2 bent rods and a blown out piston. There came a set of brand spankin new pr3's for $40 with gorgeous new rings!
