im new to this forum and had a couple of questions.

ive seen a lot of people using pr3 pistons on their builds. I was planning on using jdm p73 itr pistons. is there much difference? i will also probably be running crower stage 2 cams with the dual valve springs. also plan to use arp rod bolts and head studs. want to use acl bearings and get it all balanced and all. i wont have the money to do the valvetrain at first, will the engine still run decent? also, if i use a 22 tooth water pump and a p72 oil pump, which timing belt can i use, or do i need to stick with the stock stuff? i plan to do some port matching, but nothing extreme. anyone see any problems in the build? anything that may be done differently?

p73 pistons have slightly higher compression. 10.2 of pr3 and 10.6 for u.s. p73. I would suggest to do the valvetrain at the same time. Thats some decent power and the stock valvetrain won't hold on for an extrememly long time. You will be able to run stock valvetrain for a while but it all depends how you drive and how often you run your car hard. I'm not sure about the pump and belt situation so hopefully someone else can help. Sounds like a good build.

thanks guys... i was planning on the jdm p73s, so its a little higher than the 10.6... what about tuning? wiring? i have obd2a, but want to do obd1... whats the best way to do that and run the b18? its an obd1 b18.... wiring is where im stuck, and tuning. around here there isnt anyone with a dyno, and i have to go almost 2 hours to the nearest hondata dealer/tuner.

That might be what it takes to get the car tuned. I ran my car an hour and a half to the tuner. There was another tuner in the area but I went to one that was more widely known. convert to obd1, someone will know the exact steps. Then, tune with hondata, chrome, or uberdata.

The reason alot of people run the P30's or the PR3's, is because they don't require modification to fit the LS rods like the P73's do.
