You can get some decent HP and keep your bottom end. The only thing i suggest is to drop the oil pan and install some ARP rod bolts to hold the extra power together. A good choice are some stage 1 cams, with springs and retainers, the adj cam gear, and a mild tune. You'll notice the difference.

send the b18 head to a machine shop for a mild p&p and 3-angle valve job. ls heads are known for a shitty flow, and the p&p work will make it flow better.

you also need aftermarket springs, since oems tend to float at revs past 7k.

you can reuse the oem retainers.

for the bottom end i recommend arp rod bolts (crucial for the build).

itr pistons will take your compression on the 10's .

a 4-2-1 header with a 2- 2.5" collector. also upgrade exhaust to 2.50" .

portmatch your oem im. or if you got the dough, get a blox one.

hondata im gasket.

and a set of crowers.

there's a debate concerning oem/aftermarket retainers.

aftermarket retainers are lighter than oem. pros: lighter means faster/higher revs. cons: durability. ti retainers are less durable than oem. in a race application, that's no problem, first, it's a race application; second, you can put a fresh set when needed.

that not neccesarily apply on a daily driver.

hence there are engine builders who prefer oem retainers with their aftermarket springs. oem are heavier than aftermarket, but more durable. they are made to perform in a daily basis.

hope i helped.
