My lil bros b18b was ticking. So i did a valve adjustment on it. and it still ticking. what could be the problem??? it gets louder as i rev the engine also. could it be the lifters are going bad. the motor has about 150k or so. Help please.

how much experience have u had with adjusting valves?

valves are easy to get out of wack. on small adjustment will give you the loudest tick. turn them snug(NOT TIGHT) just to were there is no slack in the rocker. turn back half a turn. you should be quiet from there.

what valve lash (spec.) did you used? intake .006" ex. .008" Check your timing belt also to see if it has slack/slap. Just take the top cover of the timing belt cover off and put your valve cover back on. Get your brother to rev the engine so you can see the timing belt. Sometime the noise can come from the belt area.

could also be injectors, i have the same motor, and my injectors are loud, my friends b16 does the same thing.

Take a long flat head screwdriver and touch one of the injectors and put your ear on handle and listen to see if that is the ticking you are hearing.

Do the same thing on top of the valve cover and compare the noises.
