not to bash non-vtec motors...but you will have a lot easier time achieving 220 whp on like a b20/vtec motor than on a non-vtec...most ive seen a non-vtec motor N/a do is 200whp

Most of us only see ls motor compression in the 11's. But no one really want to try is 13.1:1 and up. Of course it's not gas pump friendly , gonna have to use race gas. Gas is the main issue that no one want a high compression motor. I think it can be achieve, just no one or almost anyone has try yet.

um if you want that much power and to be streetable...boost it or supercharge the motor on like 7 psi... but if u want all motor then i would go vtec IMO...not to bash but its a lot easier

ls vtec would be the easy way to get it. i dont know about 220hp. maybe try p30 pistons. good port and polish. take center layer of head gasket out. run crower 405's. hmmmmmmmm. and a small n2o shot. might blow up but im sure youll get 220

Well whoever is building your engine if they are good they can make that much hp. Look at Bisimoto with a freakin' F22b running mid 9's with a uni body single slammer.

With enough money and attention to detail, you can make that much HP.

I should have said no "streetable" LS will ever make that much power......

If money is a concern replace your rod bolts with ARP products get an Egay turbo kit and run boost on 8-10 lbs and get a tune and you'd reach those numbers quickly. It's cheaper than all motor.

I ran 13:1 compression on 93 octane unleaded. Just tune REALLY well. If you're willing to go with super high compression, race gas and a cam/port job that matched that compression (like 15:1), then I'm sure you could make your power goal.

What's the spec. of the motor, dyno, and did you ever run it at the track?

Side draft carbs do atomize fuel better and you'll need all the help you can get. I had a B20 that was bored .20 over(I know it wasn't safe) and was built to death for N/A with 404's, full valvetrain, 12:1 JE's, and a B16 tranny with a 7lbs flywheel tuned on an AEM EMS. On the Dyno it only made 191hp to the wheels and 179 lbs/ft of torque. Granted it was good in a gutted 92 CX hatch with slicks for a very pleasant 13.1 the single cam turbo I put in the car later ran a 12.9 in Atlanta and made 246hp and I only had about $800 in that entire setup.
