I plan on doing a ls build including cams, intake manifold, pistons and the whole nine yards. Now to let you guys know this is my first 4 bannger build but not my first time in an engine. Ive built many v8s. The question I have is how much will having a auto tranny hurt in terms of robbing horse power?

with a good build i dont think it would hurt to bad. or rob that much. id say it would be pretty good.

i think it would be sick man. not many ricers run an automatic. i had a 92 DA auto and it would skoot. i had a 100 shot nos on it and it would grab a second gear. i say get you a good stall converter and try it, worst it can do is blow or u not like it, then just switch it out for a 5 speed. i know the conversion isnt cheep and kinda hard to find the parts but it is doable. b the underdog and run with it

manual conversion in a DA? hard? no. Cheap, yes depends on where you get your shit...

gear ratios in a auto simply arent designed for performance. add in the fact that they are relatively weak and you have a loosing combo on a NA honda.

autos work good on large displacement torquey motors wich is the exact opposite of a honda.

auto's are weak and not designed for performance. if you want something that honestly would be better for performance convert it to 5 speed. you would probably be a lot more happy with the car performance wise. a Honda just does not have the torque to make the car go with a auto. I would only have an auto in a truck or an SUV.

Thats what I was thinking. A b18b1 super chargered with a 125 shot and a built trans, should be a good setup.

Stock Honda auto trans there would be no way. if you upgrade the trans there it be able too. but also you would probably want to upgrade the axles too.
