Hey, im new to the forum but have searched this sight many times. Now im on a quest that i havent found an answer to yet.

I have a b20b from a 00 cr-v and would like to build it up. one of my ideas was the use of the b18 crank and rods and pistons. i guess im wondering if this is just pointless or would it make a good lil buz bomb. i want to achieve a short stroke but large bore. any ideas on a good lil build?

Thanks

stay with the b20b crank, it's the same stroke 89mm. I wouldn't recommend using a stock ls pistons. Different bore. Stock b20 84mm, stoke b18a/b 81mm. Bump the compression up and you should be fine. I thought for a build you want a longer stroke instead of a shorter stroke. Unless your plan on running aftermarket piston with a really high dome top. But if you want shorter stroke then a b16a, b17 will do since they have a shorter rod length. But i wouldn't recommend it.

rod length:
B18A/B or B20B/Z 137 mm
The B17a rod length is the shortest of the three at 132mm
The B16a is next at 134mm.

well when you are looking for bottom end then yes you want to have somthing with a longer stroke, crank stroe is what im talking about too not rod length. but i am looking to make this little thing scream, i am uste to building sbc's and i know if you want a screamer than you build yourself a 302. if you want to tear off rubber from a dead stop and through the next 3 gears than build a stroker. im just taking what i know and trying to use it.

i was looking at maybe useing a b16 crank (after i found out more on stroke mesurement) and maybe a custom set of crower custom rods, still not sure on the pistons.

ok hears another question. anyone ever try for a true screamer and what rpm did you make it too. if you got it add a dyno sheat.

your best bet if you want to de stroke it , is to use a gs-r crank, ls rods , and use b16 pistons. you can rev a little higher, and it will be safe up to around 8k with some head work as well.

if you want even less torque then stock b16a block and a ls head don't put b16 rods in a ls or b20 just to short.
