Hello guys,

this is my second post following the introduction post, I have a Black USDM 1998 CRV EX automatic, and I need to increase the power a little bit,
I wanted to install a TD05HR 16g since I have 2 from EVO8, but to install that with the twin scroll manifold, there is no space, unless I go with a custom made manifold which I can't afford at the moment. I wish I could afford a supercharger but also I can't, so what happened was this

- I ordered a Tri Y headers off ebay.
- a set of NRP (never heard of it before) 84mm (10.95:1 CR using the
stock B20 head) pistons with rings.
- Brian Crower BC0022 cams.
- Blox cam gears.
- BC dual valve springs, to be used with the stock retainers.
- K&N 8" Cone Filter.
- B16A2 Intake Manifold from a 1999 Si, I will make it fit the non Vtec
head, also will post and polish it.
- Apexi Safc -Used(gift from a friend).
- Mitsubishi EVO8 fuel pump.
- will Port and Polish the head with some valve port job.

I am keeping the stock rev limiter, I am hoping to get the extra power I need to make it move when going to the mountains.

PEACE
NAB

Awesome! What head is on your B20? The P75 or P8R? Sounds pretty nice so far.

we started the CRV yesterday, we installed the ebay pistons "chinese " CR is 10.95:1 using the P75 head, we had the head ported and polished with valve ports job, installed the headers, some mods done to clear the 4 wheel system, made a custom 2.25" pipes from after the headers to the back, used a simulator to replace the CAT, and 1 resonator and 1 cat back.
installed the Brian Crower Cams with BC springs, adjusted them for 0.20mm-0.25mm intake and exhaust, but CRV does not have a stable idle, tried to make it 0.30mm-0.35mm and the sound was so HARSH but idle was good, so will have to find the right specs somewhere, anyone can help? we installed the Blox cam gears, and have them Zeroed out for now till we break in the engine, ohh for those interested in the ebay pistons, we should know that it spit some smoke everynow and then, so I will have to change the piston rings soon, so if you do buy the ebay pistons, you better not use the rings that comes with it, especially the ones that come in the white carton package.

the B16A2 intake manifold is not a direct replacement for the B20B4 long kneck intake manifold, one of the bolts needs to be modified to fit, which is easy, but a water passage doesnt fit at all which is not good, so to make it fit, I will have to cut both intake manifolds from the runners swap and weld parts.

I am using an O2 simulator so I have no pbm running decat.

Cheers

we adjusted the valves at 0.08" for intake and exhaust, the engine sounds much smoother now, but I got an email from Dustin Spencer From "Brian Crower" he said to adjust them at 0.06" intake and 0.08" exhaust so will do that after I am done with the engine break-in.

no more smoke from the exhaust, so I guess the 1st note about the smoke was not fair enough, and the smoke was sure to oil residue on the pistons and the exhaust during the engine rebuild, also seems that he piston ring is starting to do its job right.

I did not check engine compression, will do so after I drive it for a while, 1st impressions, car needs tuning, lots of tuning, needs a wideband to correct the mixture, with the proper cams setting, and correct mixture it is going to be a wild ride I can tell :-).
Now before 3000 RPM, the car is like 5% better than stock, but after 3000RPM it feels and sounds aggressive, the goes crazy after 3000RM, I like it, but I didnt dare to really test it in the 1st 5mile, will go up the mountain today and after I do the 1st 100-200miles I will feel what this engine is all about. If I didnt like it, I wil buy a Jackson racing Supercharger and sell this engine to a manual Honda that can Rev past 6800RPM (my stock ECU rev limiter).
I dont regret buying any item I have in there for now, not the ebay headers, nor the ebay pistons, but it is still early to make a fair judgment now.
anyhow I will keep you posted.

PEACE

the headgasket leaked water into the combustion chambers, so today we are disassembling the engine. I frankly did not take it easy on the engine, I was too hyper :-) so I did breakin the engine going up to the mountain with RPM going ftom 3000-6000RM and went down to coast mostly in vacuum mode in 2nd or 3rd gear, 1 thing is for sure, that engine does not like the auto tranny nor the 6800rpm rev limiter, it shifts at 6500RPM when I go WOT and it feels it is too early for that engine, the sound is amazing it draw a smile on my face, the power is not bad at all, I love it. once the engine is at 3000rpm it goes straight to 6500RPM no hiccups, and it sounds like the type R K20A2 engine as well now :-).
nice cams, nice setup. nice headers and nice air intake.
so after we find out the reason behind the water leak into the chambers I will let you know, and I am changing piston rings at the same time.

PEACE
