I give you props. Sometimes different can be alot of fun,and a good learning experience. I personally tend to go for "underdog " motors like nonvtec, but I geuss a REAL underdog honda motor is a D series, huh?

And like my brother (hsckris) asked, why? (just curious)

You should get at least 30 mpg in the city and 35-40 on the highway. D motors don't use a lot of fuel compared to the larger B series. $50 bucks for a Z6 is a good deal! Throw that in your Honda and boost it. Even with 5 psi and no intercooler you will have more power and torque than a all motor B20 plus 35-40 mpg.

Long live the D! My first set up was Saab T3 turbo, HF manifold, OBX FMU, open exhaust, dsm blow off valve and no intercooler running 5 psi and I could smoke Integra Type R's equipped with intake, headers and exhaust...with about $1000 into my car (including the cost of the car!)

I have a '88 DX and I threw in a D16Y7 and a Si tranny last weekend. I didn't have time to install my turbo kit so I put on the stock air box and intake tube, Z6 throttle body, Z6 intake manifold and a Ebay header bolted to the stock exhaust. I am running a chipped PM6 with BRE. I raced my buddies B16A powered '94 Integra and he has a ebay intake, LS throttle body, '99 Si intake manifold, mild ported B16A head, GSR cams, AEM cam gears (set at 0), NGK plugs and wires, Comptec header and stock exhaust running on a chipped P30 with Crome. He has a LS tranny. We raced and I beat him to 75 mph when I let off. It was a bit wet, but I beat him by a car length, as he was at my back bumper. Not bad!

You -can- get a B series passed with the ref board tho.

Yes. But not a B20. The problem here is that the B20 is considered a truck engine. And it is NEVER legal to swap a truck engine into a car here in California. I have dealt with this to some degree by getting a referee sticker for an LS and hoping the smog tech does not confirm the block code. This works for the most part. But there is always the possibility of getting your hood popped by a cop. For this reason, I have a spare LS motor just laying around in case I have to go to the ref again. But I myself am actually considering doing something 'different'. No, not D-series. I want allmotor power and torque. So I am STRONGLY considering an H23A. That way, I can just run it with the stock ECU and be all good with the State of California. Not to mention that I can probably fund the entire swap by selling a complete LS swap, a B20Z longblock, and a B-series Hasport kit (and maybe have some money left over for a header).

i like it but it depends on the car a big car needs a big motor like if you got a crx its light and with a d16 you be ok but if you got a teg or somthing like that it would not be a smart move

take a tip from the old school
thare is no replacement for displacement
