It can but more then likely its going to blow up in the process, Ls bottom ends are known to have weak rod bolts, that's why they weren't mean't to rev high. The bottom end isn't as well balanced as the gsr and b16's.

i would not recomend rev to 9000 rpm because a built ls will not make much power after 8/8200 rpm but that is up to u and like stated before the rod bolts are shit if u are planning to rev that high invest in arp rod bolts and look into getting the connecting rods shotpeen for added insurance but that is just my 2 cents

If you want to rev past 8K on an Ls motor you need to upgrade to ARP rod bolts and install an engine girdle. Like the GSR motors have. There are after market companies that make them for the Ls motor. This will keep your bottom end in check. You also need to replace you valve springs and retainers to keep from floating a valve. But unless you upgrade cams and port the head a B18a, B18b or B20 wont make any power past 7k.

other thing too with nonvtec heads is the weakness in the valvetrain...once you start to rev an ls motor over 8k or around there...the valvetrain can start to come undone (valve adj mostly). this is because there is not as much holding the valvetrain in place as a vtec motor
