I'm thinking about applying 4 to 5 coats of clear coat over flat black, my question is, will it make the flat black glossy??

I don't know if it will be glossy no mater how much clear coat you put on it if the paint is "flat black". It is made not to be glossy. If that is the case, then you are better off spraying it a normal black and then clear coat. After the clear dries, read up on how to wet sand it, that will pull out the gloss even more.
