I was wondering if you can put a D16 non vtec head on a D15 bottom end? If it is possible, what kind of head gasket would I need and will it bolt up to a 5-speed transmission? It's a 91 D15 (came out of civic hatchback) and a 96 D16Y7 head.

i know it will bolt up to the tranny and the head will bolt up...but you might need some different parts like different headgasket, timing belt etc...dont take my word on it though

yes the head well bolt right up no prob. in fact all d15 and d16 heads can be swaped around even the d16a1 DOHC if you know what all parts you need only the pre-87 d15 and d17 heads cant be swaped you can even use the same head gasket all d15 and d16 have a 75mm bore and allmost all the timing belts are the same for MOST of thim the d15z1 and d16a1 are different for shore

Im thinking about doing the mini me swap also z6/b7 and i was told you need the head gasket, timing belt and water pump for the z6 head and you have to remove the oil jet out of the b7 block (its in the top middle of the block).

well you will for shere need a new head gasket and no the stock water pump is the same one i dont think you need a new timing belt to make it work but if your in thare its a good idea to get a new one any way dont know about the oil jet never herd of any one having a prob. with thim that should get you going but puting a v-tec head wont do much if you dont change out the stock non v-tec ecu for the v-tec ecu and run the 3 wires for the v-tec it would all be pointless
