I read an article in Super Street about cheap horsepower for Honda's. They say you can bolt a D16y8 intake manifold to other D series heads and that you can bolt any B series throttle body on a port matched D series and the combo should be good for about 12 hp.
Well, I have a B series throttle body and picked up a D16y8 intake manifold, pretty cheap.
If anyone has done this or a similar swap, I have some questions and could really use some info.

- My car is a '93 with, an automatic transmission, and NO cruise control (it was cheap).
- The throttle body is from a '95 B18b, with an automatic transmission and cruise control.
- The D16y8 intake manifold is from a '99, with a manual transmission and cruise control.

Do I use a throttle body gasket for an automatic, or manual?

Will I have any IACV problems?

Am I supposed yo use the D series throttle cable rotor?

Is there anything on either part that i have to change, since I don't have cruise control?

Any help with this, or any other things I should know about this swap, would be greatly appreciated.

What engine do u have? And R U OBD 1?, should be a basic bolt up considering u have auto b18 tb, u will need to port match the IM , i would use the auto gasket for b18 tb , dont know much bout this, someone else may need to chime in. if your motor is OBD 1 your iacv should plug right in long as the iacv plugs match up, if its just a 2 wire iacv on the y8 IM u may just be able to d pin and use the iacv plug from your OBD 1 harness, but i wouldnt expect more than a 5hp gain from this swap, i dont know your setup but the Y8 IM flows well.

You wont get 12 horsepower unless you upgrade your fuel system to take advantage of the extra air flow. That means new injectors and a high cap fuel pump. You will only take advantage of this mod if you are running high compression. Also if you are OBD2 then you can kiss the tuning goodbye (the ECU will retard timing to make up for the extra air flow).

12 hp is a bit much. You can expect about 1-3 horsepower gain from this mod. Go to maxbore.com and they will bore out your y8 throttle body for 90 bucks.

So, would it make any difference to use the B series fuel rail and injectors?

OK, well, it seems I have everything that I need.
I have 2 Y8 IM's. One from an automatic and one from a manual.
I have my B18 TB, from an automatic, and a gasket.
I took the IACV and the FIV completely apart and cleaned them.

I'm gonna try to get it done this week or next weekend, if I have time.

As soon as I do, I'll take lots of pix and post it all.

Any last suggestions or tips?

Why do you want to have an extra 12 horse power for your vehicle? Are you competing on a race or something?

Well, never mind.
I went with a complete Ls/5 spd. swap and a built head with Crower 403's, Blox 65mm tb, etc.

While I was waiting to do mt B18B1 swap I put the B18 TB on my D16Y5. It did nothing that I could tell. Unless you have head work, cam, boost and or higher compression then it is not worth the money IMO.
