so i bought a 1991 civic with a d16z6 swap with about 135,xxx Km , but what i didn't realizes is that all the wires are but connected and i have a ground that is heating up and it's also just a mess in my engine bay. and i'm having trouble with the idle. it goes from 1000-1500 while its just sitting there. i also bought a parts car ( 1991 CIVIC) with a b18a1 swapped in it with about 140,xxx km on it. would it be a good idea to swap the b18a1 for the d16z6, i would be losing the vtec which i'm very hesitant about...

ANY SUGGESTIONS?????

If your b18a1 runs better than I would say yes. Once your other motor is in you can find a better wiring harness for your d series. But if you're doing it for performance I'd go with the b18 fo sho lol for sure (in my opinion)

the d16z6 is already in. but the d16z6 has vtec so that would be better no?

To vtec or not to vtec that is the question. You can get similar hp for the the same cost for either engine. The b18a1 has a higher top end in terms of horsepower and torque. Why is vtec so important? It doesnt kick in until 4800 rpm, unless you are going to be driving near redline most of the time.

id go with the b18a1 as long as it runs better (bigger is almost always better) and if you want to go vtec later you can always get a b16a head or a b18 ls vtec head and thin you can put the d16z6 a side, build it up, or sell it

haha sorry but whats a b18 lsvtec head?
i know what an ls vtec is but never knew they already came with a vtec head!
were do i find them?
for every lsvtec ive seen they had to get a knew head to make it vtec..
lol musta been a typo

ls vtec is an ls block with a vtec head...there isnt a production motor that is ls/v
