Two of my friends have EK3s, EXi (EX to the US) models. Both are automatic. Both have < 100,000 km on their engines (one has 78k & the other has 97k). Both have D15Z4 engines. Both have short ram intakes (the 78k car has an AEM & the 97k has a custom built). Where they differ though is that 78k recently changed his headers to aftermarket & changed the entire exhaust system to a 2.25" system. This car also 17" rims with low profile tyres & a music system which includes 2 amps, a sub & aftermarket speakers replacing the stock ones. The 97k car though is stock in these same fields, as in, stock headers, stock exhaust system, stock 14" rims, stock sized tyres & for the most part stock music system.
They decided to race this past weekend, just to see which was better.
The 97k car won on all aspects. Take off, acceleration, etc. The drivers even switched cars to see & the results remained the same.
Personally I'd like to think that the weight of the subwoofer, the dynomat (to deaden the rattle the subwoofer makes), the rims & tyres all in a way contributed to produce those results.
What do you guys think?
Thanks.
