Here is what I'm thinking for my next setup.

B20 longblock(completely stock)
LS Head(ported/polished, crower valvetrain, crower 404s, crower cam gears)
ARP Headstuds
ACT Lightweight Flywheel w/ Stage 2 or 3 Clutch
GSR or B16 tranny
AN-R Header into 2.5" exhaust w/ Spoon N1 Axle Back

I'm probably going to run no more than a 75 shot on it till I can get the block built.

What you guys think?

its a good setup. what kind of compression do you think you will be running with those cams? Also, think of running an intake, intake manifold, and bored throttle body with that setup. what ems are you going to tune with?

if he runs a b20b he will end up with a cr of 8.8:1 if he uses the b20z he will end up with 9.6:1 of course thats if he uses the oem 3 layer hg.

setup with:
oem 3 layer hg
B20b - 8.8:1
B20z - 9.6:1
oem 2 layer hg
B20b - 8.9:1
B20z - 9.8:1
oem 1 layer hg
B20b - 9.1:1
B20z - 10.0:1

these are all aprox. but if it were my setup i'd run the b20z with a 1 layer hg.

true. very good info. If he is going to go with aftermarket pistons then he should stick with a 3 layer. but he does need higher compression for those 404's.

he's going to have to get another headgasket if he rebuilds the bottom end. but for now if it were my setup i'd use the 1 layer to try and get a higher cr to get the most out of those 404's
