I've seen so many places on the web selling the "JDM" Hamp Synergy oil filter. Anyone using it? I'm all about OEM Honda performance. And it was designed by Honda. I just don't think that using the more expensive Hamp filter over the Fram would be noticeable.

So give me your two cents. Lets find out if this little piece of JDM'ness is worth it's weight in gold......

Maybe if you were running 10k + dollar motor, but other than that.....

I prefer napa gold...made by Wix, best filters.

I'd only run Honda Filters, I dunno why. But Hamp is just a green oil filter, I dont think there's anything significant.

Did you look at the link I poseted up? Honda designed that Oil filter for it's Type R and Type S models. That is so close to OEM it's crazy. You got to come at me with something better than that!

Nah, I was just talking out of my ass. I did read the link this time, sounds minty fresh JDM FTW. But $12 EACH? Is it worth it to you to blow $12 + cost of oil on a not very performance oriented engine? Unless of course you're investing a metric fuckton of money... then yea, do it.

I will just stick to the cheaper filters. OEM or not $12 is a decent chunk of change for an oil filter. I would only spend $12 on an oil filter if it was going on my race car or a $30K engine.

That's what I was thinking, but I can pick one up here in Houston at Gillman Honda for $7. So if you didn't have to pay for shipping and it only cost $7 would you use it?

I've tried. They won't sell them for less than $7. But check out here and there for better pricing.

$7 sounds much better then $12 for an oil filter.

depends on how much you want to spend. I would go with Mobile 1 full synthetic or royal purple. I have only used Mobile 1 full synthetic and has worked great for me. After 3-5,000 miles it still looks like new. I have seen people not use mobile 1 and only change the oil 2-3 times a year driving about 18,000 miles a year and the oil still looks like new. Not exactly good for the engine but just giving you an idea of what I have seen with Mobile 1.
