Check the wires to the starter make sure it's tight. Check for corrosion.

He says the starter clicks, so he must be getting signal. Assuming the starters he bought also came with solenoid too, I would think 3 times is enough to rule out the starter. But possibly not enough voltage reaching the starter to crank, I would also say check all the grounds and other wires for corrosion or detachment. Do you know if your battery is good?
Try this: make sure park brake is on & you're in neutral. Turn key to on, and have someone press the clutch. Get some cables and directly hot-wire the starter from the battery and see if it turns over.

now we playing guessing games..try taking a multimeter and see how much volts you got,: check battery and wire going to starter, see how many volts its reading.

Recheck all the ground wires to your motor.
