I have a b18 that i wanna build to get around 200hp and hold a 100 shot easy with out worrying about anything. I plan to have the block bored .20 and buy this kit to build bottom end. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 65664&rd=1

Will type R or GSR cams, and head internals be ok and add more power?
Also how high compression can you go with 92 octane?

why not just get forged pistons? Rather be safe than burn a hole or melt the oem piston. And my guess your doing ls/vtec. It;s safe to use the head, but when you use a vtec head on a ls block the compression will be higher. For 92 oct. I wiouldn't pass 12:1 compression. Do about 11.1:1 should be ok. You are getting the car tune right? Tuning it right will make it run better

No im not doing a vtec head. Well i dont want to put $800 in pistons is why i was going with the itr. Yes i will be getting it tuned. What do you recommend to have a quick fast motor for my crx?

You haven't done much research huh?

1. You can not use GSR/ITR/B16 head components into an LS head. Springs, Valves, Cams etc... they will not work in the LS head.

2. Forged pistons are not $800. You can find piston/rod combos for $500 or so.

Lastly the kit you listed is for a VTEC B series. So you will have to buy an intake manifold gasket to work with your LS head/LS Intake Manifold as well as an LS headgasket.

RS Machine makes some astounding pistons that you can use stock rods with. I would also upgrade the rod bolts in your stock rods as I don't see a reason to shot peen them. Rod bolts are the weak link in LS engine builds, so replace those and I say you'll be safe to 8k.

Also, I would upgrade your oil pump as well water pump and timing belts to that from a GSR or ITR. They're the same piece from 96 an dup on all B series engines. Cheap insurance for those high revs.

PS - I wouldn't buy that Nippon kit if I had to.

I totally agree Rod bolts, oil and water pumps, and a good set of pistons. Remember you get what you pay for; A set of $500 pistons compared to a set of $175 pistons. The $175 piston company has sacrificed something to lower the price and 9 times out of 10 with internals its the quality of the metal. Also I have lots of experience with nitrous and I have a few pieces of advice for it. In order to withstand a 100 shot on a daily basis you're gonna need that added security of aftermarket rods or a digital progressive nitrous controller. The controller mated with a set of rod bolts would be very secure. Edelbrock makes a nice one and you can pick a used one up on eBay for under $300. The damage from Nitrous comes from the instant increase in power. It puts an incredible stress load on the rods. The Controller will allow you to ramp it up and build it from a low shot slowly to the shot you intend. It would build power in the same way a turbo car does. By slowly I mean 7 to 12 seconds.
