I decided to join the site and start a build thread. Hopefully with the help of some fellow nonvtec peeps I can hit 300whp or low 12s (whatever comes first).
So far I have supertech 9.2 comp pistons at 81.5 and some eagle rods. This winter I am planning to get a set of Crower turbo cams, a blox intake mani, and a bigger turbo and switch to obd1.
My setup right now is a stock 91 ls in a 91 civic hb. I have a cast mani, 2" intercooler piping, dsm 450cc, tuned with Turboedit. My best time so far is 13.4 @104 on 14" steelies.
Any guidance or constructive critisizm is welcome. Now for a pic of the car.

Thanks for the positive comments guys. As for traction I already have 23" slicks for it. Any recomendations on a turbo?

The Disco Potato should do pretty nicely for your goals...not cheap but great performer that will give you decent powerband in addition to the peak numbers you want. It's a Garrett GT2860RS. You can get it with a T3 inlet so you have more manifold options.

slicks and limiting straps should help w/60fts.

Other than that, i've talked to one guy who made 300 on a stock [internally] LS with only arps headstuds...

I have decided for the turbo I want it to support around 450hp so I have some room to go. Any new suggestions?

Where is a good place to get oem parts for my rebuild? Also will the Gsr or Type R oil and water pumps work for the ls as an upgrade?

if i am not mistaken the oil pumps are all the same from 96 and up , i was told by a couple reputable guys that they change through the years but 96 and up they are better
i am sure someone will correct me if i am wrong

and for the timing belt and water pump you have to get the belt to match the pump
and the only reasom to put the gsr or type r water pump is to slow it down at high rpms to reduce cavitation of the coolant
personally if you are not spinning 9000 all the time its not necessary
oh and for the parts you gotta get some friends at the dealer like i did
gotta love the employee discount

After reading your post I realised I just had a buddy who left honda so I called him and he can still get parts at cost!

I am planning on spinning that ls to 8000 though, I have a 92 integra gsr trans and shifting into 5th in the 1/4 for the lose.

Dead on mate! Good job. I wish someone could/would figure out how much each pump actually flows to determine if there was a difference... or if honda just kep deciding to put different numbers on the same pump... That would suck :)

well it looks like your in luck as far as the parts go
if you are shifting into 5th in the quarter mile dont you think as ls trans would be better

Yea that is originally what I had when I ran the 13.4 but I got a good deal on this one. I figure if I am shifting at 8000 with my 23" slicks I should be rought around 112ish. In the end the ls would probably be better but I will ride it out for a while and see how the car runs next year unless I get a killer deal on a ls trans. The motor is my 1st priority.

for the track i like the b16 short gears ... ls trans is good for highway long runs ... b16 is the best foe 1320 runs... with the LSD...

hey as for turbo...one thing you might want to look at is go to garrett's website and learn how to read the flow charts for turbo's...it took me some time to sit down and learn but its worth it...

for the tranny...if you want a sick tranny you could do like a type r lsd 1-3 gearing, and like gsr 4th and 5th or an ls 5th if you wanna put the money into it...

Well just an update I have finished and obtained every goal for this setup. I ended up going with a Garret 60-1 for room to go and crower 403's and a 92 Integra Gsr trans. I tuned it myself on e85 with Crome Gold. Ended up getting the green shell from a buddy, it had 84xxx miles on it when i got. Another 91 civic but this was an Si and I didn't have the white one ready for the motor yet besides i have a k awaiting to go into it. Anyways here are some pics and if anyone has any questions i would be more than happy to help!
