In late march, earily April I'm doing a 5 speed swap, and intent to put a new motor in it while I'm at it. I can't decide which way I want to go though. Help me decide if you don't mind:
1)F22A1 block, stock internals bored .25mm over (85.25mm X 95mm), ported H23 im/head milled .020", cometic head gasket, 8-10 lbs of boost, hondata s200 for tuning. Roughly 240whp/wtq when done, but won't be turboed for tracking this year (maybe 130whp?)
2)F23A1 block, stock crank and rods, OEM TSX pistons for 11.2 compression (87mm X 97mm), 2307cc's of discplacement, ported H23 head/manifold, cometic head gasket, crower stage 2 (or delta regrinds) cams, valve springs of sorts, hondata s100 for tuning. About 200whp and 185wtq when done, but cams will wait till late this summer, so 170whp for track day?
I've also got a 90 accord dx for my daily driver, so losing the prelude every once in a while doesn't bother me. I just need to pick a build ASAP to start collecting parts.
first thing, bore out to 86, or dont bore out at all. .25 wont do much.
hone your block, get it mic'd, then get some pistons with the correct clearances.
240whp can be had with the engine being stock on 8lbs on a 14b or 16g. If thats all you're going for, then dont bother on boring out or doing anything to the block.
F22 blocks can take some serious boost without problems. its the pistons/rings you should be worried about.
an f23 would be a very interesting build.
On the tsx pistons, while they may be the bore you want, it doesnt mean they will fit the rods. You gota worry about piston to valve clearances. I'm pretty sure the stroke is going to change becuase they dont have the same piston pin location.
do some more research before you make your plans and start buying parts.
