Its possible that the water pump has failed or your thermostat is not opening allowing the car to overheat. If it is the water pump the water would drain from the overflow. Usually if its the thermostat, no hot water would make it back to the radiator to be cooled and cause the car to overheat. There would be no water except from a hose bursting from the extreme pressure of the heated water and possibly an intake or head gasket going bad also from the heat and water pressure.

is it leaking? if so i could be a water pump but if its not leaking my suggestions would be thermostat or something clogged in the cooling system i would do a flush just to be on the safe side

check the head for possible crack. Also check your heater core.

Maybe the water is leaking in other ways. You should see this to a professional in your place to have some inspection. Maybe there are some cracks that you did not see.
