I notice some impressive numbers from the LS turbo setups in regards to torque, they seem to respond well with minimal modifications.
Can anyone tell me what the advantages of having an LS turbo would be over having a VTEC turbo?
Is it more bottom end power/torque? Or just to be different from the rest?
Obviously people have chosen LS turbo over VTEC turbo but why?

People chose the ls turbo because they already have the ls engine. It's a cheaper engine price wise to purchase than a say a b16 or b18c. Its a good engine that can be modified without having to worry about vtec ecu problems.

yea i mean if you have all the same things on a vtec turbo and a ls turbo, the vtec will put down more power just cuz its got vtec. if you have a vtec motor keep it, otherwise do an ls turbo.

i mean i have a b20vtec but its all motor, and i gained roughly 100 crank hp going from non vtec to vtec

the diff is the ball and socket design of the ls engines head is not designed for high rpms and no matter what u do too it will not change that fact. I've built my ZC w/ crespo springs, titanium retainers, and exospeed SRZC cams but i dont trust it past 8000

to be honest i dont like this question at all...you are talking about 2 completely different motors with different rpm bands, flow characteristics...

if you honestly think that a non vtec b series motor has more build potential for boost than a b series vtec motor then you are retarded (not pointing fingers just "in general"). a vtec motor is a far superior motor as far as build potential...

like civic97 said, people use a ls motor for boost mostly if they have one already...grant it the ls motor has a lower compression that is more friendly for boost...but ive seen good turners put out very good numbers on vtec motors on boost (ex: my friends stock ITR JRSC on 12 lbs put down almost 300whp and 230 ft-lbs)... a lot of people like to do all motor vtec motors too just because of the ability to squeeze power outta it more easily..

in answer to this question: whatever motor you have can respond good to boost if you do it carefully and correctly... when comparing vtec vs. non vtec, you are comparing two completely different motors IMO
