As the subject says im having map sensor problems. Sometimes when i start my car the check engine light comes on and my car starts to miss and if i drive it its real sluggish. The intake sucks a hole lot of air to. If i shut it off and start it back up its fine. Sometimes that doesn't work so i disconnect the battery and then its fine. It doesn't do it much but it does do it. My car is a 96 ex with a d16z6. I am running it obd 1 with a p08 ecu. My friend has a 99 integra and his car does the same thing except his problem doesn't go away no matter what. We both have changed our map sensors more than three times.Any help would be appericated.

What's the map sensor for? Is it for accurate feeding of the right amount of fuel into the combustion cylinder?

Are you sure it's the map sensor? You stated you have a check light that is on. Check the code and see what it might be, that might be your problem.

Sounds like a random missfire (aka phantom code) and sometimes it will clear for awhile, need a code, does your check light flash at any time?

The manifold absolute pressure sensor provides instantaneous manifold pressure information to the engine's ECU. The data is used to calculate air density and determine the engine's air mass flow rate, which in turn determines the required fuel metering for optimum combustion. As per definition.
