Hey folks,

I have a 92 Accord LX, 2-door. It's got the f22a1 in it, however it's been bored out from 2.2L to 2.6L :OO3 I had a stage 1 racing clutch put in, and I put a short ram intake and a header on it, a 2.5'' exhaust with a magnaflow cat and a 4'' can. Does the can really kill my backpressure? Also I'd like to keep it N/A, and was pondering on the next engine upgrade; should I do a new camshaft? or maybe swap out the intake manifold? How about racing cam gears? I have a lot of questions (some of them are probably quite stupid, so bear with me :?) so I hope I can get some answers :)

Oh and also...the reason she's my little miracle - 301k miles and counting 8)

I wish I could tell you...but I have no clue. The guy I bought it from was a master honda mechanic, so I don't really know how much he changed when he rebuilt the engine and bored it out. Plus I'm not really that knowledgeable about motor specs...yet. Pretty much all I do is get it running whenever another aging part is crapping out, and upgrade parts when I get a chance. I am assuming I have a stock camshaft if that helps at all.

well i mean just fyi the motor would prolly be fully built if it is a 2.6L because you cant accomplish that with stock sleeves...and if that is the case i dont know why he would throw on a stock cylinder head... i would try and find out what is really inside that instead of taking his word on it (not saying he's lying)...you have to fully re-sleeve the block to accomplish a 2.6L F22

If I had any way of contacting the guy, I could confirm a few things for ya; but I do not. I can tell you for a fact that he bored it out, put in new (possibly aluminum) pistons, new rings, sleeves, etc. I'm pretty sure it is a stock head...he wasn't trying to make it a racer, he just wanted more low-end power and a deeper exhaust note. It definitely sounds bigger than any other Accord I see/hear on the road, especially since I upgraded the header/exhaust system!

I posted this same thread on bismoto and basically got laughed at. It kinda pissed me off, so I don't think I wanna deal with them. I appreciate you replying and actually trying to be helpful without making me feel like an idiot :super Oh also I got a new OBX muffler that I'm gonna have installed, so the coffee can is goin bye bye :yahoo

So a new camshaft huh? Thanks for the advice; I will do some shopping around and see what I can find :-D

I apologize if I made you feel like an idiot. I have no affiliation with Bisimoto so don't go hating on the organization because of me. Besides, you'll have a harder time trying to find F series parts that are as tested as his.

On a side note I never laughed at you.

You bought a car without getting any of the engine specs. How are people supposed to tell you want would be the next thing to be upgraded? Honestly. I can say that I have never heard or seen anyone bore and stroke an F22 engine out to 2.6l and continue to use the stock top end and EMS.

You need to find out more about your engine, compression, type of pistons, camshafts and engine management system. Once you know a bit more then people will be able to help you out.

Thanks for the explanation...now I do feel stupid for taking your comment the wrong way lol well I guess I'll have to take it to a shop and have someone who knows what they're doing tear it open and see what I got. My biggest problem right now is deciding whether or not to put a bunch of money into this engine that has over 300k miles on it...it was bored out and rebuilt at 130k, but I just don't know if it would be more cost-effective to drop a new motor in. It's my daily driver, so I'm not looking for a race car here. I just want something of a sleeper that'll take a mustang or two by surprise, ya know? Nothin too high-end, in fact the cheaper I can get away with the better. But when it comes to critical engine components I'll try not to skimp :-)

If the motor truly IS resleeved, then it is worth keeping at least the bottom end. However, you REALLY need to determine whether or not you actually have a 2.6 liter F22. At this point in time, it sounds like all you have is the seller's word that it is indeed 2.6 liters (and we all know what THAT means so much of the time). But honestly, I have my doubts as far as this goes. 2.6 liters for either an H- or F-series is living on the ragged edge when it comes to both bore AND stroke. Such a motor typically falls under the category of 'race only'. And it is unlikely that anyone would get 170000+ miles out of such an extreme motor.
