Hey everyone, I'm a new register but have been using this site for referance for awhile now so I know y'all can prob answer my q's.

Ok here's the situation, I got a 97 EK coupe with a 98 obd2 ls swap, nothing fancy. So here's the story, my DL got suspended a month ago, and round the time my DL got suspended it started giving me problems. First time in 20,000 miles that it's been acting up. What happened was when it warmed up it couldn't keep it's idel up. I would keep the gas on the same position and it would studer and drop rmps then eventually come back to it's original idle. Very uncomforting to drive. So I guess it was time for me to put it up sence I couldn't drive it for 30 days. So I took the intake manafold off, clean the $hI* out of it and got all the carbon out, took of the idle air sensor and did the same, replaced the tps, put new intake and exuast gaskets and new headers with a new 02 sensor. So I put everything back together and go to start it up and it started idleing at 2000 with a cel. I check all the hoses and found no leaks. So I was stumpped, I drove it around and took it to get the cel checked out and no codes came up. Still stumped, so I took it down my street on last time and bam it just cut off and now won't start. So I came to the fuel pump, had a walbro and did not hear it cut on. So I bought a new walbro and installed it and put a new main relay and it still won't cut on. Keep in mind I just put new wires and plugs and my dizzy gots less then 2000 miles on it. Please help anyone I need my car for school and I really don't want to junk. Anyone please let me know asap, I can't stand having my baby sit back and suffer

a high ideal will indicate a vacuum leak from some where doesn't mean a check engine light will come on. the not starting could be lots of problems how about you let us know what its doing like turn key to on nothing happens, or turn key on it clicks from starter, or turn key on and it just turns over not firing, or it tries to start but wont start or stay running.
a little info will be able to let us help you more. also check fuses and double check to see that you tightened everything and got all hoses on.
o did you clean everything before putting on new gaskets that can cause it to ideal high and run lean did this once it stumped me for a long time. a spray bottle will help you out for vacuum leaks you will hear a small amount of the liquid be sucked in or sprayed a way.

Thanks for the replay, so it turns over, no clicks, it's like it's missing fuel or something, the thing I notice was that the fuel pump isn't coming on. I had a walbro before and I could always hear it whine up, but that's what I thought what the issue was, so I bought another one, instaled it in and same, no whine from the pump, someone mentiontion main relay, swaped that out, still does the same, the engine wants to start just something is holding it back, the pump isent getting any juice. I'm stumped guys and feedback will be greatly appriciated, o and FYI I check and sprayed all the hoses so I know there good and replaced everything back to normal

actually if the idlel is eratick going up and down between 500 to 2000 rpm then 9 out of 10 its a vaccume if your idle is high when u first start it around 1500/2000 rpm them comes down after warm is normal that is your IACV try cleanning it 2nd if u have one adjust or clean your FIT valve it sits under your throttle body 3rd could be a air bubble in your coolant bleed your radiator so their is no air in the system as far as your starting problem it is either fuel, spark, see if u are getting fuel to the injecters if so see if u have spark if so check the dizzy might be bad also check ground wires that is my 2 cents

I just jumped on and saw your post.

So - a couple things to check for if it's not starting, (it's still not starting right?)
Unless you're pretty much missing an engine it's almost always 1 or more of these three things:
Fuel, Air, or Spark
-You said your dizzy was pretty new? Have you had it checked to make sure? there's a couple things that can go bad inside the dizzy that can keep your plugs from getting a spark. You can also check each wire by pulling each from a plug (one at a time) and put the end close to your valve cover or other chunk of grounded metal. Have someone help you, but you should be seeing a spark when you try to turn it over.
-I have a walbro & I never hear it. That being said, it's not hard to figure out if you're getting fuel. Try cranking it a couple times & pull a plug they should be wet & smell from/of fuel (hopefully not Antifreeze - in that case you've blown a head gasket.
-There's a 15 amp fuse in the engine bay for your fuel cutoff. check that.
- Have you tried taking off your intake and spraying starter directly into your manifold?
-The crazy idle prob shouldn't keep you from starting your car.
There's a whole slew of other things it could be but remember air/fuel/spark.
Get yourself a haynes manual or something and read through the possibilities based on your situation.
Good Luck! I know first hand how frustrating that crap can be!
Mods- please correct me if anything was too off base.

ok first thing. If the car wont start and you don't here the fuel pump whine then it isn't working. Turn just the power on in your car. You should deff. hear a whine when the power is on. That is the fuel pump priming the injectors. make sure your that main relay works. some times the relays stick and if you tap it, the relay will free up.

rougj idle as mentioned is a vacumm leak. Make sure the bolts on the throttle body are tight. Did you swap the gasket at the same time? Did you mess with the idle air control vavle on it?

You said you got a check engine light. Make sure you plugged back all the sensors.

This is why i pays to have a fuel pressure gauge on the filter.

Im having similar problems with my car not starting after being warmed up and shut off.
I have to pull the fuel injector harness apart to get it to fire and clear the gas build up then quickly click the harness back together. And I cant figure out why its runnung rich.
