y Got a 97 hatch DX with a 97 B20B4 us motor in it. LS tranny and ecu. It has been in the car for 5 years now and has been a great motor, never had it on a dyno so i have no idea what #s are??? I have ls intake manifold dcsports 4-2-1 header. Check engin light stays on but after 5 years i have got use to it hahah, went off once fore no aparent reason and stayed off for 2 weeks; felt wierd with no light shining in my face.
Anyway some seals are leaking oilpan and valve cover and it is about time for a timing belt. This and the fact that i have crower 404s in the garage and SAFC2 never installed; man i can procrastinate big time; make me want to get the motor back out of the bay and do a lill work to it. Since i got the lower compresion moter new pistions are in the plans and rods. I would like some input here thinking around 9.5 some where around there again input here would be great. Dont want to go too much higher than that gas aint getting no cheeper.
I mentioned the 404's, but i have no valve springs yet. Hell got the cams for 100$ from a friend that never built the car he was going to use them in so i am ahead of the game here but know i need springs. Is there a better/cheaper alternitave to the crower gear??? Need these from people that have used them.
Also the block???? Here i want to 1 get it sleeved or do a weld in block gard. WHO is doing sleeves now adays I rember eagle from back in the day but have no idea about now HELP me here 2. Any luck with block gards???
And also a crank girddle ??? who makes one is z10 still in buisness. Is there a stock one i could rob out of anothe honda motor???
Want to do this as soon as i get my 4door back on the road as a DD. Yea this is long and my spelling sucks.

ok got a couple answers for you...

sleeves- eagle and benson are the main people that i know...usually its around a grand for a sleeved block

if you do a block guard you have to have the machiene shop install it when the motor gets honed

as for your motor...what plans do you have for that? like is it N/A or FI? it seems that you want to go all motor...that being said with those 404's there is no way that u wanna go as low as 9.5:1 compression...i would say that if your using the 404's i would go around 12:1 compression...i know gas is expensive but its only like 5 dollars more to put in premium...if u stick those cams in a low compression motor u are just waisting your time.
