this build is similar to my last if yall remember. this time im using b18a1 block. with pr3 pistons. instead of p30's. stock ls rods. not really building to raise hell in. just something to do. i havent been on here in a while cause i went DSM. and regrete it. so in the mean time im tryin to sell my mitsubishi to by a DA. till i get it sold i want to go ahead and start my build. so far i just have stock ls with the pr3's not installed yet. i was wondering if really neccessary for a block guard. or waste of money for it. top end i dont have yet. nothing but stock pr4 crap. i want it to be able to turn some what high rpm's. i know its a ls and not made to turn to high. i want to make great power with it of course the non vtec way. so i was thinking of 404's. my last build i didnt get to do nothing to the top end and i think thats what was hurtin the most of my performance. all it had was intake mani and headers. but any suggestion and ideas will be great from you guys. anykind.

they say 70% or more of the power comes from your head. keep that in mind.

block guard = waste of money. especially when you're NA. if you wanna spin the LS any higher than 6800, get some ARP rod bolts and have them installed and the rods reconditioned. Lastly, I wouldnt use used pistons, buy them new.

the pistons are brand new. just the rods have been used. so just change the rod bolts and i can turn atleast 8200 with the ls bottom end. safely. not that im really going to be turining it that high. but i say i will from time to time.

I would say yes. I would also get the entire rotating assembly balanced. Clutch, crank, flywheel, crank pulley, pistons, rods and rod bearings.

They'll need the rod bearings to accurate balance to their weight.

I wouldnt even bother with the pulleys, but yes I would still balance it all together.
