Hi Folks
I'm new to this forum stuff, so please be gentle with me. I have some questions for you guys as I quite fancy a D Series motor for my little 1958 Austin A35. Ha Ha. I'm looking at the D Series SOHC as it appears to be quite narrow, which is what I need, and my car weighs 600Kg, so I don't need that much power for a bit of a laugh. So!

Does anyone know much the main block weighs, complete with head and clutch?

Has anyone seen a D series hooked up to a rear drive geaarbox, any ideas?

Thanks in advance

Chris

Thank's for that. I've had some good feedback of other Single cam Honda sites, but it seems that the motor spinning anticlockwise is the real problem. Yep I've looked at plenty other options, but most are just too heavy.

Cheers

GF-5R may be an option, or maybe the 4wd setup from an old wagon could be modified, s2000 setup out because of the engine rotation. if you pull this off i want too see the pics, maybe old fiat setup, narrow and rwd. i just looked at some stock pics of the engine oh it is little you could put that thing in a backpack and carry it around, would it be cost effective to try and retrofit a diff drivetrain or just find another a series engine and build as much of it as u can, stock 50hp so 90-100 is a big jump would make that car quite a bit of fun. if i were to try this i would be looking into GSXR engines solid drive shaft in which i have seen done many times on the track.

Great suggestion. Ford 2.3L are pretty common, and their good engines.

Mazda Miata 1.6 or 1.8? Don't know if those are common around there? Can find the 1.6s pretty easy here in the states.

GSXR engine is another good option as already mentioned-alot more fab work though :-? .

Rotarys are light and rev like the dickens, small and easy to find?
