thermostat is the first place i'd start assuming you have relatively fresh coolant.
i'd probably just replace the existing one, they are cheap enough(you could lower the temp if you want, but the factory honda temp shoudl work fine).

WAS YOUR HONDA FROM A DIFFERENT STATE? MY FRIEND GOT A CAR FROM FLORDIA. WE ARE FROM CANADA, THE THING WOULD OVER HEAT BECAUSE THE THERMOSTATE WAS A UNIT DESIGNED FOR A ANOTHER CLIMATE, NOT MENT TO BE DRIVING IN CANADIAN CLIMATES, CHANGED THE THERMOSTATE WITH A NORTH AMERICAN UNIT AND THE CAR RAN PERFECT.

couple things to check first is to ensure the fans are coming on when the ac comes on, both should run when the ac is on and the car is on. my old car would overheat when sitting still due to the fans not coming on when. then double check the fluid level when cold, and if the cooling fans come on after the car gets to operating temperatures.

those things are free and easy to check since if any of the above is not correct then thats the first thing to fix.

then go after the thermostat and such, i doubt anything else is wrong since if the thermostat was bad then it would overheat a little just being on.
