Hello everyone. I'm a newb to the site, but im not new to hondas by any means...

not sure if my thought has been covered, but ill give it a shot!

So i have a theft recovery '94 GSR that ive been rebuilding from the ground up and i DONT want to go the VTEC route.

I have the JDM B20B 8.8 c/r and decided i wanted to do something different. I've honestly never seen a setup like im about to explain, but if yall can help me out, id greatly appreciate it.

Basically, i plan on hunting down a P8R head for the bigger valves and matched combustion chamber [and i think bigger ports? someone verify please?], using crower 403's, a blox IM, a JDM ITR header i already have right now, and the 9.6 c/r pistons. I plan on putting the power to the ground with my tranny i already have [ITR /w 4.785].

my goal is about 150-160whp tuned on crome with my powerband being midrange up

If i can get some opinions or thoughts about this, i appreciate it!

That is an interesting setup. The p8r head will get you to 150-160 better than all the other heads. I like the fact that you are upping the compression but did you ever think of going up just a little bit more? maybe up it to about 10:1. The 403's will help with the midrange more than the 404's so that is a good choice but its going to be a challange to get up to 155whp or so. hope ya get there. keep us updated.

uh every company out there makes pistons, they are just 84mm b series pistons, nothing special about them.

keep in mind the CC volume of the P8R head is larger than the LS head so any piston you put in will yeild a lower compression than advertised.

regarding the head port ive heard its larger than LS ports but i didnt notice it on mine, could stem from the fact that B18a ports are signifigantly smaller than p75 ports. if they are larger then its only my 1mm or so, they are still smaller than vtec ports.

i honestly wouldnt bother putting in b20z pistons, they will run you a couple hundred bux and only net you mid 9's compression wise. look into RS machines cast type R pistons, they are a good value at 300 bux and are designed for the larger valves that the P8R head has. otherwise any major piston manufacturor makes pistons but they will be forged so more money....
