I bought a prelude with a H23 and it has a spun bearing. I got a engine from a guy in Atlanta for 200 bucks....so I am off to rebuild the new engine and get this Prelude running. That is all LOL.

Thought about just putting a H22 in it but I bought the car to fix, drive a little and flip it.

Well, I got the "new" engine torn down today and cleaned all up. I used tons of elbow grease, brake cleaner and engine degreaser to get her clean as well as my apartment's car wash. Imaging the looks on some people's faces when I was walking down the parking lot with a engine on a stand and a bucket of full of soap. I got the rings and bearing as well and a new ACT Street disc in today. Tomorrow should be spend working on the lower end and getting some of it together. Here are a few pics:

Just a pic of what 2 hours of cleaning got me:

And of me soaking the intake manifold gasket with Brake clean. This gasket is super stuck on there.

And just one of the garage......

Nice. Did you check the crank journals at all or are you just buying some std size bearings and hoping it works just long enough to sell?

The engine was in beautiful shape when I tore it down minus the rings being gummy. The bearings and crank were just fine. If I wanted to go cheap I woulda slapped some rings in it and just carried on with my day. Everything checked out good minus the head. I will be using the original head on her since the one in the engine I bought had pretty worn valve guides.

I am planning on driving it for a little while and then selling it.

I got the engine and trans bolted up together and ready to go back in the car. I hope to have it running this weekend.

Well...I got it in the car and running like a dream.....however....I did discover that I had a major oil leak......well...I somehow put the head gasket on backwards...I have never seen an engine that the head gasket looks right except one area on a major oil drain-back from the head. I got the head off today ( I have been at a Army school for a month so no car work) and will get the new headgasket on right LOL tomorrow.
