Hmm, Im seriously sick and tired of seeing EG, DC2... DC4... DB1 DB2 DB8 DB7 DC5 EM1 EM2...

Yea, I know exactly what everyone of these codes are, but why the hell is it almost mandatory for every member to refer their car by its chassis code?

I say we write a script that replaces the chassis code written, with the proper make/model of the car.

For example, if I were to say...

Hi, I drive a DB1.

It would be replaced with

Hi, I drive a 90-93 Integra Sedan...

I know in Vbulletin you can do this with character replacement through the VB admin panel...

Nathan, some insight?

Oh, lets also make it so it replaces the following

FTW - I'm a interweb genious
IIRC - I pretty sure

You know, obvious ones.

Oh man, had to rant a tad.

haha, Brian, phpBB supports 'censoring' words... you can use those to enter in the chasis codes and what they actually are if you like. I don't really have time to look them all up and such.

Frankly, I agree in that I hate having to remember what each thing is and most times people get it wrong anyway - like calling all 96-00 civics an EK9..... I mean, I understand it's the 'specific' way to refer to stuff. But I think most people do it for two reasons: its shorter but more importantly :it makes them feel cooler somehow?

I dunno... I'm not going to yell at anyone for using short hand, but if you like, you are more than welcome to either create a short sticky on the chasis codes and what they corespond to, or to make the board replace each reference with the full thing...

Nathan

I dunno how to do make the board change it.... lol...

just my little rant for the evening... when my car leaks coolant, i get mad. and i take it out on the internets.

I think its funny on some boards when you post curse words it replaces them with "explative" instead of whatever you say...lol

I believe I only have like one or two words in the censor list.... I'll give you a hint: they're racial slurs :)

I've got an entire list of chassis codes that I've compiled... if I have access to the adminCP i can change the filter...

I think this will help others out that aren't that familiar with the chasis codes. Good job man!
