they are no joke "Full race, all-out, all-motor drag profile" and should be used for only that. they will only really make decent power if you can rev the head high so that means some good port work and supporting mods to support that. expect a 1200rpm idle and a loss of power compared to a smaller cam below 6k and a gain of power mostly from 7500+ somewere in the area of 10hp+ over 404-2's.

i would not use them on the street unless its a weekend only or part time use car.

heres some more info taken from b19couped LS build over on HT ->linktothethread http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1765855&page=1

heres a stock motor comparing stock cams with boltons to 403'and bolt ons

heres his built motor comparing different bolt ons 403's to 405's with the same bolt ons

so you can see adding 403's gives a nice gain over 6k and extend the powerband with minimal loss below that. 405's provide pretty good gains over 6k compared to the 403's and really extend the powerband a good amount with a total peak gain of ~ 20hp

i would expect the 404's to fall right in the middle of those 2 (~10hp more than the 403's but 10hp less than the 405's) making them the best choice IMHO for a street car as it gives you a good blend of power below 6k and good topend too.

so you can compare powerbands heres a graph (dynojet 248c wich reads ~%10 less than churches dynapack i would expect ~204hp with my motor on churches dyno) with a b20 with 404's

run 32 (blue line) is the most recent

I am about to send the car in for work, and still cannot decided on whether I go with 62405 (not 62405-2), or Brian Crower 0022 (62403).

I don't drag, I road race, and only drive less than 20km a day. No weekend driving because we use wife's car on weekend.

I just can't decide.
