okay well i want to know what you guys think about puttin a turbo on my teg. What kind of head work will i need to do? and what kind of work do i need to get on the block?
i want to make at least 200 whp on as much boost as i need to get there, but i also want a reliable engine that won't blow or throw (a rod).my budget is about 3000$(canadian)

now i know i need ARP rod bolts, and i was thinking - new pistons(weisco b16a pistons low compression at 8.6:1)
but do i need to get the block resleeved and overbored.what effect does overboring have on the engine? and if i get stage 2 camshafts will i need new valvetrain?

for 200 you'd be good with the stock bottom end on like 7 psi.

a local car here in KC makes 304 on I think 14 psi on a completely stock LS.

Your stock sleeves should be ok for 200 whp.Your sleeves I would cross hatch the sleeves so the piston rings will seal correctly. I wouldn't add a block guard sometimes if the block guard isn't install right the sleeves aren't straight anymore. Don't drop your compression 8.6:1 that's way too low, if your not plan on running crazy boost. I would do 9.1:1, 9.6:1, or 10.5:1. get it tune.

I would spend the $3000 dollars on all the turbo parts and tuning, and leave the engine stock. If you can, do both street and dyno tuning which should cost you about $600 or a little more. With $2400 or so, that should give you a budget turbo setup.

I agree, you shouldn't have to touch the internals till over 250whp. I run about 260whp right now at 9 psi on stock internals and 220,000 kms, 20,000 kms since the turbo. I would recommend getting an AFR gauge though, its great for tuning and piece of mind. For 200hp your fuel pump should be fine but your injectors might need replacing.
