I got a b18 a1 and I'm wondering if oem parts would get me power? Parts like b16 tranny, b16 or itr pistons gsr tb itr upper intake mainifold. Stuff like that or should I go after market? Its a dd and I dont do any track racing. Any advice would be helpful so y'all let me know.

It's not about if this part will give me power. It's about what combination of parts will work together to give you what you want. Do some research to find out what whp & powerband location you want. After that look into what gearing works best with your powerband. Also don't forget money, what is your budget?

OK so how do I find my power band? I heard it was around 4grand or when your car stops making power?

You design an engine base on the powerband you want. Base on your first post I'm assuming you're going to be modifying the engine.

The stock ls powerband starts at the early 4k & ends at about 6400

Yes b16 pistons will bump your CR. But they're overkill for stock cams, you need to find parts that work together not against each other. Pick a powerband you want & find out what i/tb/im/cams/h/c/e works best for that powerband. Than find out what CR you need for those cams, you don't want to overcam or undercam the package. If your going to get some headwork done talk to your headporter & tell him/her your goals & powerband location. After all that tune.

Do you mean how do you find your car current power band? A: Dyno

Or do you mean how do decide what power band works best for you? This is up to you to decide, do you want raise your redline for top end power or do you want midrange power for daily driving. But since you stated this is your daily driver & no racing I would go for midrange cold air intake, 4-2-1 header w/2" collector, highflow cat & a 2.25" cat-back. The avg ls with these mods gets 130whp & a power band from 4400 to 6400.

As for gearing where should you land on the upshift
1->2: you want to land before your power band to avoid wheel spin
2->3: the beginning of your power band
3->4: beginning of power band

b16 & itr have same gearing

I have the header and high flow cat to the 2.25 exhaust but I believe my tip is 2.5. My DA feels powerful up to redline. I want more power but I don't wanna invest in parts that are not going to get me there. I want about 180 ish whp and as much tq as I can get and a higher redline wouldn't be bad either. I researched but experience counts more (imo). Thanks redxiii for the powerband info and I'll try that shifting technique. Any other info or advice you guys have would be great I like learning new things.

That was not a shifting technique. In a race situation you want to rev to your redline then upshift. I was just trying to show you how your power band & gearing should work together. The reason why you what to shift at redline (even though you fall out of your power band before redline) is because of torque multiplication. You accelerate faster in a lower gear.

Now as for 180whp in a ls, it's possible but you better have so deep pocket if you're going na. FI is the easiest & fastest way to get 180whp in our ls engines.

Link for making 200+ bhp
http://www.team-integra.net/forum/displ ... icID=40283

You will need to make at lest 215bhp to get 180whp
