did a search to no avail, so i ask thee for assistance. i have a b18a1 engine and i bent some valves. hopefully in a couple of weeks i'm taking the head to a machine shop to get it fixed. while i'm at it i'm gonna ask for a 40thou mill, install valve seals and a 3 angle valve job. now here is the question. i also want to hone the valves, but i've heard mixed comments about it. some say it helps the combustion process, and some say that valve hone hurts the valves making them more susceptible to burning and committing epic fail. what's your point? should i ask for valve hone or not, and why? thanks.

think of it this way: a lot of build up on your valve stem and inside your valve guide. Chances are your valve is gonna stick. valve hone gives a better surface for the valve stem to seat correctly, same as we cross hatch our cylinder sleeves, so it can properly seat.

Valve hone also help prevent sticking and permits a closer stem to guide clearance

Hope I explained to a extent, so that you can grasp a concept of it. Kinda hard to put it in writtin than just doing it.
I would do it if the guide wasn't replace. If it was new wouldn't really worry about it.

Are you referring to grinding the valves and seats?

I always have my valves ground and a 30-32 degree angle backcut added to improve flow.
