long as u dont try to break the 200hp mark , It will hold together for awhile with a good tune. P.S. i wouldnt put a turbo on anything i wasnt going to beat the sheet out of. lol. :) I'd plan on a rebuild you know your ganna beat on it.

are u sher its a d15b thats not a e-vtec motor but it is a comin swap for bad d16y6/7/8 the d15b came in the JDM 93-95 delso si and the 92-95 civic vt-i and with 130hp its more of a go-go motor it has the same rods and head as the d16z6 and the d15b has the hottist stock d-motor camshaft so it shoud hold up ok to a turbo as long as u dont get crazy

Ok here is the deal with Vtec E. I have a 98 Civic Hx stock motor is a D16Y5 Vtec E. The problem with doing any mods to a Vtec E motor like boost is there is no way to tune. No one has any maps that are for Vtec E motors. Not Chrome, Phearable even Hondata. I wanted to boost my D16Y5 badly but after several calls to my tuner SRD, Hasport and Hondata. I found that there was no way to tune and I would just quickly blow my motor under boost. I was told to do a D16Y8 swap or a B series swap. I went with a B18b. The best and pretty much only thing you can do to the Vtec E is cold air intake( I found that the Ex one worked for mine), header and Ex cat conversion and a 2 1/4 inch cat back as they dont like large exhaust. All this will get you better mpg (mine got 38-40) and about 5-8 more hp.

Vtec E comes in at 3500rpms, the Ex motors d16z6 and y8 come in at 5500. Vtec E works to increase fuel economy. It does this by using only 3 valves under 3500rpms. Vtec engages and opens the second intake valve so all 4 valves are now operating. It does this so it can have great fuel economy, low emissions but still have good mid to high rpm power. The d16y5 Vtec E is rated at 115hp/106ftlbs good for the economy motor. The d16z6 is at 125/106 the y8 127/107. The Hx motor makes it peak power 400rpms sooner and peak torque 900rpms sooner. Seemed to me to be a good motor, the only thing holding it back it no tuner can tune it. I even asked if a Apexi V AFC would work and it will have problems with the OBD2 system. The JDM d15b Vtec motor is the best SHOC Vtec motor Honda made. Strong and great power from a small engine. Its not Vtec E though, thats a good thing.
