Alright, I've got an '89 Integra that I plan to build. I want it reliable and marginally fast. Lets call it low 14's. Originally, I had planned to build up a D16A1. Unfortunately, when I pulled apart the original motor, I found it had thrown a rod (previous owner), and the block/crank are unusable. I've been trying to source another D16 locally, but they're not easy to find. My plans for it were rebuild using mostly OE parts, then run 7 PSI from a CT26 turbo. I called another local yard today, and they said they would check, but they do have a '91 B18A1. They're supposed to call me back about the D16, but now I'm really thinking about the B18. It really depends on how much they want for it. For close to the same cost, I can do a mild NA build of the B18. Let's say I want 175 whp from either setup. What would the B18 need to make that?

in my opinion i would go with the b18. i have a 90 integra with a b18a1 in it and it's a very fun and reliable motor, prenty of potential. D's just don't apeal to me, less parts, less power. But on the other hand D's are lighter. if you want a cool article on an amazing D series motor check out the august 07 issue of honda tuning. this stroke a d with oem parts and layed down about 175 hp N/A (i respect that!)

only application for a D IMHO is in a super light honda ie CRX HF maybe DX or a EG hatch one of the econo models like the vx or sumthin. otherwise your just giving up too much TQ NA were 4cyls are at a dissadvantage anyway.

turbo is another story though, D series are pretty good and cheap/easy to rebuild. you can up the boost to make up for lower displacement and if you blow it who cares, you can buy a new engine for like 100 bux or even free if your not picky. i wouldntbother with a A1 motor personally, try and pick up a z6 or a a6 and have some cheap fun.

It's much harder to put a Z6 in there than you'd think. The A1 is a bastard as far as the D series goes (but not as much as the B20A5 is compared to other B series). I can get the B18A1 motor/ecu/transmission for $600. I just wish I could find the Hasport mounts for less. $600 mounts on a $600 motor just doesn't make sense

is it really that hard to put a D into there? is it the mounts or is it converting all the emmisions and crap?

im not really that familiar with 1g integras, i just guessed that if they basically have ZC motors in them stock that other D's would be interchangable.

The Integra ZC and Civic ZC have totally different mounts. And I've never really cared for the Z6
