I am in need of a new clutch and was looking around on ebay for one. I was thinking about going with a XTD Stage 2 Clutch with out a flywheel. Has anyone ever had an XTD STAGE 1 or 2?

honestly man. go with a good name brand. its not easy or cheap to replace a clutch. and you dont need anything over a stage 1 like the exedy stage torque rated for 245 ft lbs . pedel feels super nice. and exedy makes pretty much all the clutches. even act the spring center for the clutch disc is made by exedy.

i would recommend competition clutch or clutch masters . . . i've had the stage 4 CM package and am currently using the competition clutch twin disc . . . both are great

When I shift at high RMP's and shift at red line and go to shift fast, as soon as I left off the clutch my tires just spin and dont wanna go. Its a good second or 2 before it engages. What could this be? clutch? or something inside the tranny? if I take off normaly at about 1200 RMP my front tires like hop and it seems like they skip. What could this be??

Well that could be a few things..

tires for one.. id get some better rubber to hook up.

and the wheel hop is cause by your suspension.. i would look into some better spring rates and absorbers... maybe even a full poly urethane bushing kit..

also on the spinning at high revs.. are you sure your shiffting fast enough cause i know when i rev at high and i take a couple of seconds to shift i chirp the tires only cause i took to long and the engine is still reved and the tires arent up to speed.

but i hope this helps.

I have brand new snow tires and i have no problem with my suspension. I shift fast enough and they dont even chirp. When i shift at high rmps like that and into the next gear it feels like my car is spinning on snow.

upgrade your suspension. a bushing kit would probably help so would probably an H-Brace. it could also be caused by the tires that you have on it.

if your TIRES ARE SPINNING your clutch is holding your power fine and working exactly like it is made to . . . your tires are simply not hooking up (most likely because they are snow tires) . . . i would get better tires . . . try some BFG G-Force Sport tires, 205/50/15's, i have them and they work GREAT . . . i would also upgrade the suspension and maybe the bushings to fend off the wheel hop you were describing . . . good luck

I was either thinking of buying a competition clutch stage 2 or (EXEDY STAGE 1 ORGANIC LINED DISC)

I was going to go with a stage 2 comp. clutch because I am only paying 15 bucks more for it. The exedy stage 1 is 275 shipped. What should I do? Are they just about the same clutches?

You seem a bit dense, sir- allow me to spell it out for you: AN INTAKE AND A FART CAN DO NOT CONSTITUTE THE NEED FOR A 300-PLUS HORSEPOWER RATED CLUTCH. If you put in too much clutch for your motor, you will just end up looking like an idiot when your car loses all semblance of street manners. If you're planning on gnarly enough mods to make the kind of power a stage-2 clutch was designed for, why not just add another 300 bucks onto the 2 or 3 grand you'll spend to make all that power and get the stage 2 THEN? Seriously man, you're gonna be WAAAAAY happier with the Exedy stage 1 at your stated current level of performance. Not to mention it will be way more girlfriend-acceptable if you don't give your passengers whiplash every time you shift going 20mph....

A stage 2 clutch isn't that much more aggressive and will provide him room to grow. He's not DENSE just uniformed and thats what this forum is for. This is not the place or time to flame he wasn't deserving.

IMO going with XTD isn't a bad idea, my buddy has a XTD stage 3 clutch with light weight flywheel, he's been running it for two seasons now, many many runs at the drag strip, it takes a shit kicking pretty much every day he drives it and the clutch has not given him problems or slipped yet... ( he's running a B18B with hybrid gsr W/Itr final drive tranny) was running up to 100 dry shot for half of last season too...

Don't think the clutch takes abuse? watch this video then haha..

The reason why he clutch kicked it is because it was just going one wheel lol.

Here's a 12.9 second pass... forgot to mention he's just running a stock B18b with 350 xxx Kms on it

enjoy.
