Hey All,

Just bought a JDM D15B engine to swap into my 93 Civic LX (D15B7, 1.5L, 16V, SOHC).

Was putting together the parts list (timing belt, tensioner, seals, water pump, etc.) when I discovered that I can't buy the usual water pump that goes on the D15B7 for the JDM engine, because apparently, the JDM D15B engine uses a different water pump.

So my questions are:

1. Anyone heard of this before?

2. Are there any other JDM-specific parts I have to watch out for during the swap?

3. Where can I get a JDM-compatible water pump for this D15B?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

ive never heard of this before, why can you use a regular d series water pump? does the bolt pattern not match or what?

I wish I knew the answer to that one. Hence, the question on this forum.

Since I have both the D15B7 and the JDM D15B engines sitting in my garage, I'll be pulling off both pumps to verify in the next day or so.

On the one hand, the guy I bought the JDM engine from swears he never heard of this problem.

On the other hand, I've run across at least three different eBay vendors that have warnings in their ads about the non-compatibility of the stock D15 water pump on JDM engines. I've corresponded with two of them and they all swear that the stock pump won't work on JDM.

Here's one ad with the warning:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/88-95-1- ... ccessories

If this is true, then it sucks.

I'll compare the two water pumps, once I get some time to pull them off tomorrow and report back.

Hopefully, they'll be exactly the same.

If someone knows otherwise, please let me know.

Bob

The correct waterpump is one for a VX(D15z1)
